HOMO SCHIZOEPIDEMICUS

I am not an anthropologist, and therefore what I am going to write about now should be treated as a journalistic vision rather than a professional forecast. However, I feel emboldened by the fact that it has happened more than once that the visions of amateurs have shaped the future of the species homo sapiens. Therefore, I am not discouraged by my incompetence and begin to prophesy.

Our species is slowly changing its mental condition.

So far, he has prided himself on becoming more and more familiar with the world around him, and from this fact he gains advantages that allow him to be a unique, one and only creation of Nature. He is the only one who can objectively and verifiably assess phenomena that are unfathomable, alien, even hostile to other living beings. Thus, he is a perfect creation, a creation in front of whom only a bright, magnificent future that brings his possibilities closer by great steps to God.

And in such an intoxicating conviction we lasted for the last few centuries. Until, all of a sudden, someone let out a fart. It's good to know the author of such a gaffe. Isn't it? Now I'm not going to write about climate change, environmental pollution, poisoning the air, melting glaciers and so on. There are others for that, and they will probably do it better than me.

In these particular cases, the culprit is obvious.

It is the West, with all its industrial civilization, that chases profit without looking at the consequences.

I was interested in something else. Although similar thoughts had been swirling around my head, and probably not only my head, for a long time, it was only my recent visit to Sweden that concretized these thoughts.

Well, walking through the streets of Göteborg and several other smaller towns, I observed a certain regularity that surprised me, while the local native Swedes apparently did not. During the workday, the streets were almost filled with crowds of expatriates from mainly Arab countries who had come here. Native Swedes were hardly to be seen. I later learned that this was because Swedes work during working hours. And what do those who crowd the streets of Swedish cities then do? I did not get an answer tentatively to this question But only tentatively.

I myself began to tentatively surmise that well-dressed in their national costumes, surrounded by a bunch of children, strolling contentedly through shopping malls, the women and accompanying contented men must have some source of income, and not the worst. When I asked a random Swede about this issue, I didn't get a preliminary answer either. But only tentatively.

And one more observation.

But only tentatively.

It was time to say goodbye to Sweden. In one of the charming seaside pubs, probably still a Viking settlement, I met up with the Swedes I had recently befriended. There was delicious fried fish, delicious fish soup, and, of course, vodka. This is what both Swedes and we like, as we know. Well, and this vodka became the catalyst for my sociological discovery.

I renewed all the questions mentioned earlier, which I initially did not receive answers to. This time it was completely different. In unanimous chorus, all my Swedish interlocutors shouted in English, because that was the language of the conversation: "SHIT, BIG SHIT!!!!!". It quickly turned out that they were sick of it, that they were fed up with it, that it was a scandal to work for non-workers, that the insolence of expatriates had already exceeded all limits ..... well..., that nothing could be done about it. That they can talk about it over booze with friends, at home with family, but on the street God forbid. No comments, no gestures, no even unfriendly glances.

Why?

Because it is not appropriate. After all, "political correctness" applies. I for one therefore agree to live in a kind of social schizophrenia. Something different at home and completely different on the street. Here they looked at me sadly and admitted: "You are right."

So much for my Swedish observations. We have been living through the Russian-Ukrainian conflict for more than a year. The assessment of it is rather unequivocal in Poland. I will therefore skip it. I was interested in the mindset of probably not only Kremlin propaganda, but also millions of ordinary Russians. Well, according to popular opinion in Russia, the West is to blame for everything. It is him, his rotten customs, his promiscuity, effeminacy, moral beard, desire for unbridled domination, etc., etc., etc., etc. It is the West that is the single j most dangerous enemy of the healthy fabric of Russian society. Such opinions come to us from the Russian media. They are uttered against the backdrop of streets traversed almost exclusively by Western cars, we see almost exclusively showrooms of Western companies. Millions of Russians dream of vacationing in France, Italy or Spain. Russians are usually dressed in the clothing of well-known Western companies, and this is no doubt due to the prestige of wearing such.

What is going on, could it be that my theory is correct? For completely different motives, but the effect is the same. It seems that Russians, like Swedes, have been afflicted with an as yet unrecognized form of social schizophrenia.

Let's be on guard. For although I say this with great trepidation, I am also beginning to find in us Poles signs of a slow change in mental condition and symptoms of transformation from HOMO SAPIENS to HOMO SCHIZOEPIDEMICUS.

IDEA NO WAR
Our cruise, our voyage around the world, our idea of no-war, is a manifesto against all the wars we are fighting. Wars for resources, for profits, for energy, data, raw materials and lands. Wars born of the stupidity of hatred and greed.

Our cruise is a symbol of freedom and strength. The strength that each of us has within ourselves. The strength through which together we can change our surroundings.
